Pertot brings with exhibition Boatella Cerdanya cycling calendar to life
On Friday May 15 at 19:00, Pertot inaugurated an exhibition by illustrator and graphic designer Pep Boatella at the store in Puigcerdà. The exhibition presents the visual world behind the 2026 Cerdanya Cycling Calendar, bringing together original illustrations, sketches, preparatory studies, and selected pieces from Boatella’s creative process.
The exhibition explores the relationship between cycling, landscape, and illustration through a series of works centred on roads, mountains, and everyday scenes from cycling culture. Alongside finished artworks, visitors can also see early drafts and compositions that reveal how the final images were developed. The exhibition will remain on display throughout the summer.
The exhibition is directly related to the active cycling scene in La Cerdanya. The Cerdanya Cycling Calendar is more complete than ever, with a wide range of activities throughout the summer, together with the shop, Cerdanya Cycling Culture, and other partners. Boatella brings an artistic and creative touch to the sporting summer in one of Catalonia’s leading cycling destinations.

Born in Barcelona in 1983, Boatella studied illustration and graphic design at Escola Massana. Since beginning his first editorial collaborations around 2009, he has worked continuously across publishing, press, and visual communication. His work combines traditional and digital techniques, with a strong focus on composition, detail, and readability.

Over the years, Boatella has collaborated with international publications and institutions including The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, El País, La Vanguardia, Corriere della Sera, and Oxford University Press, among others. In the publishing world, he has illustrated book covers and children’s books, creating imagery connected to authors such as Roald Dahl, Eduardo Mendoza, Pere Calders, Jaume Cabré, and Sally Rooney.
Part of the exhibition also highlights artwork developed for Editorial Periscopi, including covers for titles such as Normal People, Sweet Water, Beautiful World, Where Are You, and I Who Have Never Known Men.
The opening evening at Pertot offered visitors the opportunity to discover the exhibition in an informal setting centred on cycling, illustration, and visual storytelling. The exhibition will run for a few more weeks, and visitors to the shop can enjoy the works with a cup of coffee from the coffee corner, where Nafent Magazine is also available to read and purchase.
