La Garba, the unique gravel event in the Terres de l’Ebre
On the first of April, L’Ampolla will once again be the epicentre of cycling tourism in the Terres de l’Ebre. The third edition of La Garba touches base with the beautiful area in the south of Catalonia, a sporting event that aims to provide the opportunity to get to know the Terres de l’Ebre through cycling, a territory declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2013.
Just like in previous editions, the participants prepare themselves for three different distances. The distances ‘Lo Manoll’ of 80 kilometers and La Garba of 128 kilometers will run through the two hemideltas of the Natural Park of the Delta of the Ebro. On the other hand, the longest distance, La Cabra of 239 kilometers, will go around the Natural Park of the Ports.
The coastal municipality of l’Ampolla will be the departure and arrival point for the (more than) 500 participants of the third Edition of La Garba (@Lagarba_gravel). The routes are not made public until a few days before the event: the adventure is guaranteed.

The routes pass through different places in the natural parks: Bassa de les Olles, Badia del Fangar, Mouth of the Ebre River, Deltebre River Walk, Green Way from Amposta to Sant Jaume, Gola de Migjorn, Lacuna de La Tancada, Lacuna de l ‘Encanyissada, Ullals de Baltasar, Riu Ebre and Port Pesquer de l’Ampolla.
The routes are designed for Gravel bikes, but mountain bikes and e-bikes are also available. The routes are not physically marked, which means that you will have to navigate the routes with a GPS device. Once the challenge is completed, participants will be able to enjoy a rice tasting from the Ebro Delta, courtesy of Arròs Montsià.
