BMC presents new Roadmachine in Girona

The Swiss bike manufacturer chose Girona as the location for the launch of three new rockets: the 2024 Roadmachine line.

Three days of riding to experience BMC’s latest bikes: the RM01 TWO, equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2; the Roadmachine 01 AMP two, featuring durable electronic support and Shimano GRX DI2; and the RM01 X ONE, a variant with wider tire clearance, ideal for gravel rides as well.

The fleet of new bikes were tested out in the Alt and Baix Empordà, as the group set off for a 55-kilometer road ride to MiraGe of Mas Gusó in Sant Pere Pescador. Along the way, quiet roads with little traffic provided an ideal environment for proper testing, both uphill and downhill.

One of the two biggest advantages of the third-generation Roadmachine bikes is improved comfort, achieved through a special shock-dampening system inside the frame. Additionally, there is wider tire clearance (previously 33mm, now 40mm). It’s easy to mount a set of gravel wheels on the BMC Roadmachine to make it suitable for off-road cycling.

Then, the road bikes were swapped for gravel variants, ready for a 40-kilometer gravel ride through the Baix and Alt Empordà, finishing in Hostal Empúries for a phenomenal lunch with views over the Mediterranean Sea.

All third-generation Roadmachines come with an integrated rear light, bottle cages, cabling, and downtube storage, making the AMP (electric) versions of the bike additionally suitable for bike packing trips, as experienced on the way back to the hotel. The gravel-specific Roadmachines have the ICS Micro Travel Technology for additional shock absorption and comfort – our favorite feature on the bike. Riding this third-generation bike, one can tell that the Research & Development team of BMC has implemented the knowledge gained through developing leading bikes like the Teammachine R and Kaius. In terms of speed and comfort, the Roadmachine is a superior bike. It is capable, comfortable, and fast.
