New openings in Catalonia
There were plenty of new (re-)openings in the area of Girona this spring. We gave Carlos Hairstyle Banyoles, Tramuntana, Trek Girona, and La Maglia hotel a visit. Find the stories now on our website.
Tramuntana – The new Mediterranean food corner next to ‘Eifel Bridge’
Right in the corner close to the Pont de les Peixateries Velles, Tramuntana celebrated its inauguration at the end of March. Tramuntana will be a new option for specialty coffee lovers, passionate healthy grocery shoppers and fans of art.
Tramuntana is the newest initiative from the owner of Vimet, probably one of the best-placed stores in the old town of Girona. Being on the crossing of the four main streets in town, Vimet attracted many athletes over the last year. Having local, ecological and organic food and ingredients, it exactly offers what more and more Catalan and international people are asking for.
Tramuntana follows a slightly different approach than Vimet. It is a grocery store that sells healthy groceries, craft beers, and natural wines. However, having a Rocket machine, it also serves specialty coffee in town.
La Maglia’s Concept Store Coffee Roasters
The cyclist’s hub in Platja d’Aro, La Maglia, is expanding by opening, next to its cafeteria, a brand new store, the Concept Store Coffee Roasters.
In the near future, the new concept store will further contribute to the experience of the cafeteria. La Maglia will make different types of coffee with different apparatuses, and the selection of coffee beans is going to be broader than before. Cyclists do not have to ride any further for the unique coffee experience: La Maglia will open the concept store literally next door.
Carlos Hairstyle: the cyclist-friendly barber shop in Banyoles opens
It is a household name in Girona and surrounding areas, particularly among athletes, and especially cyclists: Carlos Hairstyle. Barber Carlos opened a new shop in Banyoles at the end of March, welcoming everyone and sportspeople in particular.
Carlos Hairsyle Banyoles arose close to the Estany de Banyoles, in a building located at Carrer Pintor Winthuysen 12, and a big celebration on the inauguration day meant the head start of Carlos’ new barber shop. The Catalan barber, a great sports enthusiast himself, focused on the tiniest details to make his new place as sports-related as his current barbershop in Girona.
Trek Bicycles arrives in Girona
Nowadays, there are six Trek shops in Catalonia. The largest one is now located in Girona, the Mecca of cycling, where Trek has also opened its first bike rental centre in the whole of Europe. The city breathes cycling, having deep roots with Lance Armstrong, one of the first professionals who started living in the city by the Onyar.
Girona now has a unique and unrepeatable space that features the complete Trek and Bontrager products, as well as a repair and overhaul service for bikes of any brand with 24-hour delivery. And as a point of differentiation, Trek creates in Girona its first shop in Europe that makes the latest generation Trek models available to everyone in rental format to enjoy Girona. “We want to connect with all types of cyclists, from those who are just starting out, those who want to try a different bike to their own, to those who come from another country to enjoy Girona,” notes Eduardo Quer.
