Do your knees hurt?
A common reason for visiting the clinic is chronic knee pain. This kind of discomfort often hinders us from engaging in sports, enjoying a walk, or even climbing stairs. Despite resting, the pain persists; the ominous beginning of a troubling journey: the pain intensifies, swelling occurs, and neither ice nor rest provide relief. Even medication may fail to alleviate the symptoms.
Seek advice from a professional to understand the cause of your pain and find effective solutions. Avoid relying on the internet or quick fixes. Remember, if you don’t take care of yourself, no one else will. Chronic pain often indicates a postural and/ or muscular imbalance which is not being addressed properly.
At Sportcat, a sports traumatologist will evaluate the cause of your pain, which often has a biomechanical origin. This will need to be assessed and corrected, potentially with insoles, strengthening exercises, or adjustments to the set-up of your bicycle.
Whilst there are many possible causes of discomfort around the knee, four of the most common injuries that can cause non-traumatic knee pain are patellofemoral syndrome, chondropathy, bone edema, and meniscopathy.
Our multidisciplinary team, led by Dr. Jordi Surós, combines the latest electromedicine technology with cellular impact on the injured tissue. We also assess the biomechanics of the injury through gait analysis, provide sports rehabilitation, strengthen weakened muscle areas, and offer joint chondroprotection through intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid or PRP gelled growth factors.
At Sportcat (Sports Medicine), we utilize state-of-the-art rehabilitation technology to achieve optimal results and regenerate injured or degenerated tissue. By combining treatments like MBST® therapeutic magnetic resonance imaging with Osteospin 2, we can energize the mitochondria within the damaged tissue, stimulating the regeneration of chondrocytes in cartilage injuries, osteoblasts in bone injuries, and more.
These treatments will be combined according to the therapeutic needs with Vacusport® or intermittent vacuum therapy. This NASA-patented invention enhances venous return, lymphatic drainage, collagen synthesis, and tissue microcirculation.
Once the tissue has healed, we will carry out the re-adaptive work with a specific and individualized recuperation plan to ensure proper recovery. Finally, we will lubricate the joint with a viscosupplementation infiltration.
If everything goes as planned, we will stabilize the issue, halt the degenerative process, regenerate much of the damaged soft tissue, and help you return to the activities you once enjoyed but had to stop.
