Carlos Verona: World Tour Pro promoting grassroots cycling in Andorra
When Carlos Verona moved to Andorra in 2015, he was one of the first professional cyclists to choose the Pyrenean country as his base. Back then, Andorra was quiet for cycling—beautiful roads, calm traffic, and big climbs—far from the hotspot it is today. A decade later, Verona is not only a WorldTour rider and father of three but also deeply committed to developing cycling in the region.
To give kids the opportunity he didn’t have, he launched the Andorran Cycling School with a small team of passionate teachers and riders. Every week, children of all levels practice skills, build confidence, and discover the fun of cycling. During summer, Verona organizes cycling camps, offering young riders structure, outdoor adventures, and guidance from experienced mentors.

For the Lidl-Trek rider, it’s about giving kids tools for life: “If they learn to ride now, they’ll enjoy it at any age.” Beyond coaching, Verona also works with the national federation to develop new races like the Andorra Morabanc Clàssica, inspiring young cyclists and bringing pro racing closer to the local community.
Andorra’s cycling scene is still young but growing fast. With Verona leading initiatives from grassroots programs to race organization, the future of cycling in Andorra looks brighter than ever.
