226ERS expands High Fructose range with new gummy bars

With the presentation of the High Fructose Gummy Bars, 226ERS innovates with a new energy solution designed for athletes who need to achieve high carbohydrate intakes during training and competition.

The new energy gummy provides 46 grams of carbohydrates per unit and uses a 10:8 glucose-to-fructose ratio to maximise carbohydrate absorption and energy availability during exercise.

Chewable energy for the most demanding efforts

With this launch, the Spanish brand expands its High Fructose strategy with a solid, chewable and easy-to-digest format, designed to make energy intake easier even during high-intensity efforts and offer a practical alternative to combine with gels and bars during prolonged exercise.

The 10:8 ratio

The 10:8 glucose-to-fructose ratio refers to the amount of glucose and fructose in the carbohydrate mix. In simple terms, for every 10 parts glucose, there are 8 parts fructose. The more familiar ratios in sports nutrition have traditionally been around 2:1 glucose:fructose. More recent products often use ratios such as 1:0.8, which is essentially 10:8.

These two numbers refer to the two different transporters in human intestines. While glucose uses the SGLT1 transporter, fructose is absorbed through GLUT5, supporting a higher rate of carbohydrate absorption and oxidation. This strategy is particularly relevant in endurance and long-duration disciplines, where athletes may need to achieve high carbohydrate intakes per hour to maintain energy availability.

The 1:0:8 or 10:8 ratio has scientifically been proven to allow the athletes’ body to use different intestinal absorption pathways in the most efficient way. Each unit of the 226ERS High Fructose Gummy bars (60 grams) provides 46 g of carbohydrates, representing 77% of its total weight, making it an effective tool for meeting energy needs during exercise.

In addition to its carbohydrate content, the gummy bars (or should we say yummies?) contains sodium to help replace electrolytes lost through sweat and support hydration during physical activity.

The new High Fructose Gummy Bars is available in four varieties:

Lime: 100 mg of sodium.
Banana: 100 mg of sodium.
Cherry: 100 mg of sodium and 100 mg of caffeine.
Salty Caramel: 250 mg of sodium.

Depending on the flavour, each unit provides either 100 mg or 250 mg of sodium, catering to different nutritional needs and exercise conditions. This formulation helps maintain performance and energy availability during prolonged efforts.

226ERS already had gels and energy drinks in their High Fructose-range. The main innovation of the launch is its gummy format, developed as a practical alternative. Its texture makes it easy to chew during physical activity, allowing for simple and comfortable consumption even when high intensity makes other formats more difficult to consume.

Committed to quality and the health of all athletes, 226ERS has ensured that the new gummy bars is fully suitable for vegans and vegetarians, as well as being gluten-free. The product has also been tested by the Spanish Movistar Team and is included in the prestigious Cologne List.
